On Sunday, 30 August, we bid farewell to the 16th Kino Otok – Isola Cinema International Film Festival in Izola. It was a special edition, envisioned and organised in times of great uncertainty. Nevertheless, the festival screenings started on 16 July in Sv. Anton and in the course of the following weeks continued Koper, Nova Gorica, Tolmin, Sežana, Idrija, Cerknica and Ljubljana. In the latter, the festival will continue until 15 September with the last screening at Slovenian Cinematheque, when festival screenings move to the Cinesquare.net online VoD platform until 21 September. ...

Today, we will conclude the festival activities in Izola, but Kino Otok – Isola Cinema will continue its path in Ljubljana and the geographically unlimited screens of the internet. Tomorrow already, Kinodvor in Ljubljana will host its last screening of this year’s edition of Kino Otok – Isola Cinema Festival, Ema Kugler’s Man with the Shadow (2019), while, between 11 and 14 September, the Slovenian Cinematheque will host a retrospective of films by the Portuguese master Pedro Costa. The Kino Otok film festival has been touring Slovenia since July, but time has come for it to settle in Izola. The main open-air venue of the festival has traditionally been the Manzioli square, but this year Arrigoni open-air cinema will have this honor, due to its ability to host more guests.
